Attaching a connection to a client
An iCal feed tells GigGuru when and where you work, but almost never for whom and at what rate. GigGuru only knows that once you attach the connection to a client.
What it gets you
Section titled “What it gets you”- The right client name on every gig. Most feeds don’t include an organiser. Without a client, the gig then shows nothing.
- The right rate. Every gig from the feed gets that client’s hourly or day rate, and with it an estimated earning. See Rates per client.
- Invoices on the right contact. Your accounting connection puts the hours and the invoice on the contact that belongs to that client. See Accounting.
- No duplicate gigs. If you already entered a gig by hand for that client and it later arrives through the feed, GigGuru merges them. That only works when both are attached to the same client.
Each client can have one connection.
When creating the client
Section titled “When creating the client”On the web you can add an iCal link straight to a client: Settings → Employers, open the client, and under Connector choose Add connector. The connection then takes the client’s name. You can also do this during onboarding, in the Employers step.
Attaching an existing connection afterwards
Section titled “Attaching an existing connection afterwards”-
Go to Settings → Connectors (iPhone: Settings → Connected systems, then tap the connection).
-
Under Client, pick the client this feed belongs to.
-
Done. Existing gigs from this connection are attached to that client straight away. Upcoming gigs also get the client’s name and rate on the next sync.
If you see That client already has a connector., another connection is already attached to that client. Detach that one first (choose No client there) or delete it.
Without a client
Section titled “Without a client”If you don’t attach a connection to a client, GigGuru tries by itself: if the feed has an organiser with exactly the name of one of your clients, the gig goes to that client. When in doubt (no name, or several clients with that name), GigGuru leaves it blank, because a gig on the wrong client ends up on the wrong invoice.
